The Ragon Institute’s mission is to transform medical care by harnessing the immune system to prevent and cure human diseases. Our collaborative science hub is located in close proximity to our partner organizations: MGH, MIT, and Harvard. While the foundations of the Institute came from HIV research in South Africa, and HIV remains a primary focus, our researchers focus on six research priority areas: HIV/AIDS, Global Infectious Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Vaccine Development, Basic and Applied Immunology, and Clinical studies.
We bring together people with expertise from diverse disciplines to collaborate in wide-ranging interdisciplinary teams. The Ragon’s catalytic funding allows our researchers to respond to new findings and diseases quickly by testing promising studies and emerging concepts and technology with unprecedented speed.
At the Ragon, we provide scientists and engineers from diverse fields with significant resources that enable them to better understand the immune system and support human health. Our mission is to develop strong collaborations between the often-siloed academic disciplines, bringing the collective scientific knowledge base together in order to understand and utilize the immune system's immense power to support human health.
Our vision is bold: To harness the immune system to prevent and cure human disease. The Ragon Institute's talented scientists, engineers, and physicians come from diverse fields. Our flexible funding enables cross-disciplinary collaborations and creates opportunities to turn the best ideas into immediate action. Located in one of the best biomedical and clinical research ecosystems, the Ragon enjoys the full institutional support of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. Together, we aim to transform human health on a global scale.
