Our people are our greatest asset. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that is welcoming for all. Though some of this work is driven by formal initiatives, headed by our Ragon Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Taskforce, much of it is also driven by our Culture Committee, which supports community-driven Institute-wide celebrations for events like Lunar New Year, Holi, Movie Fridays, and our long-standing tradition: weekly ice cream socials. By coming together as a community, we form a true collaborative platform that provides support for all members of our community.
From our educational efforts to our annual participation in the Boston AIDS Walk, we also strive to be an active part of our scientific, educational, and geographic communities. We are committed to bringing our values and collaborative ethos to every community we are a part of.
In July 2020, we committed to implementing an annual Diversity Action Plan in recognition of the disparities in diversity, equity, and inclusion so pervasive in our day-to-day lives. The Ragon Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Taskforce (REDIT) developed the 2020-2021 Diversity Action Plan, which commits the Institute to 23 initiatives, each addressing a specific set of barriers or concerns around developing an inclusive, supportive, and accountable community. The goal of our Diversity Action Plan is to create measurable progress towards a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and responsible workforce. With this, the Institute has formalized its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and set annual metrics for action to hold ourselves accountable.
